…Congratulations to Louisiana’s “LSUFlyfishing,” Blake Leblanc, as he has been chosen River Basser of the Month for November. Blake recently became the first ever RiverBassin.com member to catch a state record, submit it and become officially recognized by his state as the record holder. And, what is even crazier is that the guy called his shot! He said he was going to do it, and he did! If you wan to see more about this, simply click here to read the forum post about his record spotted bass. RiverBassin.com would like to extend a big congratulations to Blake for his accomplishment and we’re proud to have him aboard. Aside from the record he is a stand up guy who has posted numerous informative trip reports that all the river bassin community has enjoyed and learned from. Continue Reading

….. Are you struggling to catch fish on the “spinnerbait”? You’re probably not alone! I have been there and done that and can probably share stories with you that sound just like the ones you have. I’ve recently found one of the secrets of this bait and want to share it with you…….
…..Have you ever heard that Riverbassin™ is contagious? Well…..it definitely is. My good friend, Cajun who does a lot of traveling around the world on his job, recently had a dream about just that while on a trip to Dubai. Share with us that adventure!
…RiverBassin.com recently had one of its popular River Bassin Rodeos in North Carolina and it was full of food, fishing and fellowship as always. The weather threw us for a loop and we decided to make a last minute change of location to avoid the majority of the rain. All who attended were certainly glad we made that call because we avoided all the rain during the day and it only hit us on Saturday night. This video is a little bit about the rodeo and my time on the water on Saturday.
Went river bassin on a whim yesterday and I am glad I did. The bass were on as usual in pre-front conditions. Landed about 20 largemouth in about 6 hours, with one real nice fatty. You know the drill, just click play!
How it performed: I always avoid treble hooks whenever possible on the river for obvious reasons. Because of this I seldom fish “Spook” style baits…until now! The Yum “Money Hound” allows me to “walk the dog” in the heaviest of cover. I rig mine on a 5/0 EWG hook, and throw it into places the old treble hooked lures dare not go. The weight and profile of this bait makes long, accurate casts a breeze.
I would rate this bait a 10 if not for two small issues. First, if you are not very particular about keeping the hook straight while rigging, it will “roll” during the retrieve. Second, due to the stiffness of the plastic, hooksets can be problematic in the beginning. To counter this use a long, sweeping, sideways motion.
…Congratulations to Louisiana’s Barret B. as he has been chosen River Basser of the Month for October. Barret has been on the radar of the RiverBassin.com staff for a while with his numerous enthusiastic posts on both the Louisiana, Mississippi and Florida forums. In the reports you will notice his energy for the sport and his unique, creative way of posting reports that are more than just fish, but scenery as well. It really is all the other stuff besides the fish that makes river bassin unique and Barret is just one of those guys that just gets it. If anyone has a question on the forums and Barret knows the answer you can bet he’ll chime in to help any fellow river basser out. That’s just the kind of guy he is. He also has demonstrated a sense of conservation and river stewardship by bringing a trash bag and cleaning up around river access points. Again, he just gets what we’re all about and river bassin is proud to have another quality fisherman, outdoorsmen and just plain ol good guy on this site. Continue Reading
…. The past few weeks have really been rough on all the Riverbassin™.com brothers here in the south. Don’t let it be said that the “good ole boys” in Georgia just give up when the prospects of a good fishing day look slim. These fellows found a solution. Check it out…………….
$1.00, $2.00 every little bit helps! The ocean is made up of many small drops of water and we appreciate your contribution however small, which gets put toward our site operations cost as well as upgrades throughout the year.
