…..Meeting fellow Riverbassinâ„¢.com members is always exciting for each of us. What makes it even better is to be able to sit down to a great meal and share with each other your experiences and the thrills, trials and tribulations that motivate us to love the sport of river fishing from a kayak……………This video is such a story.
…..The winter all over the country this year has been long and hard but to top it all off, the torrential rains have continued to plague those of us that go by the name “Riverbassinâ„¢ aholics”. Many of us have oiled and greased our fishing reels till they shine like a mirror and organized or tackle boxes continuously with anticipation of hitting the river again. We couldn’t stand it any longer…………..This video tells the story of four such guys on the Flint River……
I fell in love with her the moment I saw her. She was slim, sleek, and tall, oh boy was she tall. She was probably 20 years older than me but that didn’t matter, it’s just a number anyway right? Her glossy candy apple red finish had faded over the years, and she was a tad to the heavy side but looks aren’t everything. No, she had personality, miles and miles of it. They showed through every scratch and ding along her hull. That’s right, my first love wasn’t a girl, or even a car, it was an Old Town Discovery 174 that showed up in our yard on my 13th birthday.
The unique catch-photo-release, man powered watercraft, tournament trail will be comprised of 5 tournaments in 5 different Bass Pro Shops locations. …Just thought I would share a product with you that has been working for me lately on the grass laden rivers in Florida. Be warned now that flipping and pitching can be addicting when you get into using that technique. You’ve been warned.
…Eddie Cochran said that “there ain’t no cure for the summertime blues”. I never understood quite what he meant, because I never had a problem with the blues coming in the summertime. Summer’s full of long, warm, lazy days, and of course; bass. What self respecting river fisherman has time to be blue then? No the summertime blues never gave me any trouble, its the wintertime blues that are getting to me, and sitting around the house is doing me about as much good as ol’ Eddie calling his congressman. ….Congrats all around to “ML” from Alabama (or Matthew to his parents), for being selected as the River Basser of the Month for February 2010! Most of us have spent the last few weeks pining away for spring, Matt has been out there floating the Alabama rivers and showing all of us with snow on our porches just what we’ve been missing! You’ve got to be impressed by that kind of dedication, and if you’re not then hop on over to the Alabama forum and take a look at his pictures and those sure will! Matt also doesn’t mind sharing his stories in the forum. It’s this kind of dedication to the sport and willingness to help out that have made Matt our newest Basser of the Month
You too can nominate a friend to become the Basser of the Month by using this form. If chosen as Basser of the Month they will receive a special parking space at the front of the store, I mean, site, for the remainder of the month. Catching big fish or large numbers of fish is not the criteria we base our decisions on either. The River Basser of the Month should share the same enthusiasm, passion, stewardship and kindness that we like to promote here on RiverBassin.com.
The GA DNR works very hard to research the rare shoal bass and make sure they and their habitat stay around for generations to come. By filling out this form you can give them valuable information that can help the shoal bass in the future. All information is confidential and will not be released to the public. RiverBassin.com is proud to help the GA DNR and the Shoal Bass!
$1.00, $2.00 every little bit helps! The ocean is made up of many small drops of water and we appreciate your contribution however small, which gets put toward our site operations cost as well as upgrades throughout the year.
