“Castapotamus” May River Basser of the Month

Why I think they should be river basser of the month: I first met Castopotamus, (aka: David Clark), at one of the first Riverbassin.com rodeos I attended, and have since had the good fortune to share time on the river with David on several fishing and camping excursions. Spend some time on the river with somebody, and you will soon see who they really are…Castopotamus is as good as they come. His enthusiasm for river bassing is contagious, which is serving his two sons well, as their dad is making sure he passes along to them the opportunities to know and love this sport and the outdoors. Always the first to pitch in and help anybody with anything…unloading or loading boats, camp site chores, you name it…David is the first one there to help, and always with a contagious positive attitude backed-up by a “I’m lovin’ every minute of it” smile. If I were someone who met Castopotamus on the river, and he mentioned something about Riverbassin.com, I would have to check it ou
t because of the positive impression he would have made on me. David Clark… Castopotamus, represents very well what riverbassin is all about, and is a great amBASSador for Riverbassin.com.

Why I think they should be river basser of the month: Craig is a great guy to fish with and goes out of his way to make a fishing trip a great trip. Loads of fun to be around. He loves the outdoors and loves to kayak fish the river. He calls the Flint River home and loves to get out on the river to enjoy its beauty. “HiCountry” March River Basser Of The Month

Well man this Guy is a true class act! He is one of the nicest, most genuine and humble people I know. He is always helping somebody. He offered to pay mine and my sons way in Drew’s tourney when he found out I didn’t have the funds. That is just the kind of friend he is. There is not enough space on the page to tell you all of the things he has done for other people. I am proud to call him friend. I learned a long time ago if you surround yourself with good people, they will make you a better person.  That is why I associate with people like HiCountry (Allen Fowler). He may not be the greatest fisherman, or the best paddler, but he is one of the greatest riverbassers I know.

“Ocmulgee Tim” February River Basser Of The Month!

…Tim Parker is an outstanding fishing friend. He is always ready for a day on the river, or 2 or 3 days on one of his river camping trips. He will give you the shirt off his back and is always willing to lend a helping hand. He has tools to help fix up your yak and is willing to help do that. He heard that one of my reels was messed up and gave me one of his. He is a generally nice guy with a great since of humor. He can make you laugh even after you loose that big fish. I’ve made a great friend in Tim and look forward to fishing with him for years to come.

What can I say about Tim, or better yet, what couldn’t I say about Tim?  He is a stand up guy, always willing to lend a hand.  Don’t have a yak, Tim has extra’s. Need a tent to sleep in when you camp, Tim has one. Need to do some work on your boat, Tim has tools and a place to do the work. I have experienced this one first hand as Tim and his son Adam had me come to their house, use their tools and he donated a seat to the cause.  He is always down for a fishing adventure and will help make that trip as fun as possible!

Tim, my dad, is a great person and great Riverbasser. He has taught me most everything I know about fishing. It’s a love we both share. Dad is there anytime I need anything, may it be lures, rods, or just a ride to the river. He is a wonderful person, and the whole reason I got into fishing. He would make a great riverbasser of the month.

Winner…2010 Most Beautiful River Bass Photo!!

It is with great pleasure that we announce the winner of the 2010 Most beautiful river bass photo contest. I would first like to thank everyone who took the time to post there best photos and I must say that they were all incredible. What makes these pictures even more special is knowing that all of these fish were caught photographed and released to fight another day..That is what sets us riverbassers apart from your average fisherman in that we all take great care to return these beautiful creatures back to water without harm and live to grow larger in hopes that we or someone else will catch them another day..There is no doubt in my mind that we all enjoy the beauty of these fish..Especially after the thread was viewed over 2000 times..
Thank you all…

Congratulations to Troutman for posting the “Most Beautiful River Bass Photo of 2010″ !!

“KG” January River Basser Of The Month!

…KG has a reputation around the area that we live.  Everyone who I have spoken to that has ever competed against him in local bass fishing tournaments would say the same thing.  “He is a heck of a fisherman and is likely to be at the top of the leader board at the end of the tourney.”  I did not know KG in his tournament bass fishing days so I only get to hear stories of his ability to catch largemouth on local lakes. “ol’ Feller” December River Basser Of The Month!

I’ve fished with John Robbins about 8 times now and spent many a hours conversing over the phone. We have shared a camp fire and helped each other load boats and gear and do all the little things that need being done when camping. If you look up “Southern Gentleman” in the dictionary you will find his picture. He is a great float partner, considerate to a fault, and never has anything bad to say about anyone. The guy is a menace to all fish especially smallmouth bass. Thank God he doesn’t keep everything he catches or there wouldn’t be 1/2 the fish in the river! He will show up on time, give you the shirt off his back, and if I ever find myself in a war I want him in my foxhole. He practices good conservation ethics, really cares about the resource, and respects land owner rights so that more river access is open to us all. If I owned some river access, I would want him to use it often cause I know he will leave it better
than he found it. But above all, he is the kind of guy I want my daughter to be around to see a fine example of what a man should be and how he should act.
Nuff said.

“Deadeye” November River Basser Of The Month!

I would like to start off by saying, “I have personally had the privilege of meeting “Deadeye” in person and everything that his Riverbassin friends have to say about him is true and more!  Here are just a few things his friends had to say about him:

He is just a fine upstanding riverbasser. Great to fish with and willing to help others.”

“He shares his knowledge and access to waters to others without hesitation.  He is a gracious friend and an excellent fishing partner.  He is what this site is all about.  Friends, fish, and the river experience.”

“Deadeye is as good as they come!”

Deadeye is a fine riverbasser…No doubt about it..

Dr. Deadeye……..super guy!
At the Georgialina bash a few months back, an unfortunate fellow had his really big jon-boat swamped and some of us tried to help him get it back to floating. Deadeye jumped in there with a battery box and bailed and bailed like he was digging for cash against the clock….I’m talking DE really put his back into it and put out some real work! Of the people who were trying to empty the boat, DE single handedly emptied more than half the water himself. All for a total stranger who needed help.
That’s the kind of guy Dr. DE is.

It is people like Deadeye that we here at Riverbassin.com like to recognize for their unselfish actions and kindness. You reflect the true spirit of a “riverbasser” and we all celebrate this recognition with you!  Congratulations!!

“Dmurf2005″ October River Basser Of The Month

Had the pleasure of fishing with DMurf2005 a few days ago. The fishing was decent and we both managed to land a few fish, but halfway down the river my day took a turn for the worse. I had a headache for the most of the day, which then developed into serious flu like symptoms. I immediately became 100% depleted and could barely paddle, let alone stay conscious. I managed to make it home with DMURF towing me for about the last hour of the float. COMPLETELY miserable day, but thanks to DMURF for hanging in there with me and cutting his trip short, I made it home safe and sound.  Read the full story

“TyGa10″ September River Basser Of The Month

TyGa10 (Robert Cobb) was the first member to reach out and welcome me to Riverbassin.com by inviting me to his place on the Flint River. After talking with Robert and getting to know him a little better, he showed me several things about the Flint River I didn’t know. He has been very gracious by allowing me access to the river through his property and to other Riverbassin.com members as well. Read the full story
